Commonly asked questions...
Making Art from the babies umbilical cord?
Yes! It may sound crazy, but it is exciting and beautiful, and one of the coolest things ever! We are literally finding the hidden gems of artistic beauty deep in the cellular structure of the life giving umbilical cord, and photographing it. It gets even better, when you see for yourself the delicate and one of a kind images, for no two cords are the same. Talk about an exciting and deeply personal conversation piece for you and your loved ones. It is a soul stirring reminder that life is the most amazing gift!
How much of my babies umbilical cord do I need?
A 1-2 inch piece is all we need. This will easily fit in the small bottle provided in the collection kit.
How will I know for sure that the images are from my baby?
Your babies cord will ship directly to our certified histology laboratory with over 40 years of experience in the business of making microscopic slides for dermatologist and dermatopathologists. Your babies cord will be professionally processed and preserved, and the sections taken will be permanently mounted under glass with your babies name, date of birth, and unique identification number etched on the slide. In addition to the art piece you will receive the slide that the image was captured from.

In house slide processing runs about 5 business days on the front end. Once we have the slides in hand, we usually have images to show you within 48 hours. Then, as soon as we get the green light to move forward from you, it takes and additional 2-3 weeks to receive your art.
Is it OK to ship umbilical cord?
